Maidens, Myths and Martyrs ; A History of Disbelief.
Creating art is how I communicate with the world; visually describing what I cannot verbally explain. My work narrates stories from within, whether they have been inspired by real life experiences or a momentary spark igniting my thoughts and fears.
I work with my imagination, drawing on my emotions and allowing the subject of my work to evolve, rather than having a pre-set destination. The physicality of carving a block or layering paint onto a canvas is simultaneously petrifying and calming. The fear of ruining the work drives the adrenaline, whilst the therapeutic repetition and the quietness of the physical communication soothes the soul. Perhaps this conflicting duality is evident in the work I produce, where there is a fine line that disrupts truth and imagined truth, harmony and discord.
